The Canadian Crisis, Suicide, and Community Safety Association (CCSCSA) sets the gold standard for accrediting organizations and post-secondary programs, known as ‘accreditees’, in crisis and suicide response, as well as community safety and wellbeing.
The Canadian Crisis, Suicide, and Community Safety Association (CCSCSA) sets the gold standard for accrediting organizations and post-secondary programs in crisis and suicide response, as well as community safety and wellbeing that emphasize a public health and social service approach. Accredited programs must integrate evidence-based practices, including crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed care, informed by a intersectional identities, cultures and worldviews that centre the needs of marginalized communities such as Indigenous, racialized, Black, houseless, and 2SLGBTQIA+ populations.
The accreditation model emphasizes continuous professional development, ethical standards, clinical supervision and collaboration across sectors. Programs are required to demonstrate clear outcomes, community impact, and a commitment to ongoing improvement, ensuring professionals are equipped to deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive, and effective crisis, suicide, community safety and wellness services.
“Accreditation for our program shows we are committed to excellence, providing evidence-based, compassionate care while meeting the highest standards in crisis response and community safety. It reflects our dedication to continuous improvement and serving our community with integrity.”
