Crisis and Suicide Response
Crisis refers to an intense, emotionally distressing situation in which an individual experiences a significant breakdown in coping mechanisms, often leading to an inability to function normally or make rational decisions. Crises can be triggered by life events, trauma, or overwhelming stress, requiring immediate intervention to stabilize the individual and prevent harm.
Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one’s own death. It is often the result of complex factors, including mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, or unresolved trauma, coupled with a perceived sense of hopelessness or unbearable emotional pain. Suicide prevention focuses on identifying warning signs, offering timely intervention, and providing ongoing support to individuals at risk.
Community Safety
and Wellness
Community safety refers to the condition in which individuals and groups within a community feel secure, protected, and free from harm or danger. It involves the prevention and reduction of risks associated with crime, violence, and hazards, while promoting well-being, resilience, and social cohesion. Community safety emphasizes collaborative efforts between residents, organizations, and local authorities to create an environment where everyone can thrive, addressing the needs of marginalized or vulnerable populations through equitable access to resources, support, and protection.
